The Oil Ministry has moved a cabinet note seeking approval of state owned gas utility GAIL India’s pipeline business into a separate entity for a possible sale to a strategic investor at a later date. It owns around 12160 km pipeline network, about 70% of the total all India gas pipeline network. Whatever the reasons the government present, the Government is trying to sell off these assets at throwaway prices to private players. Adani or Reliance group are keenly interested in this network.
